Mentor Children

Mentorship is a personal developmental relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. The mentor may be older or younger, but have a certain area of expertise. It is a learning and development partnership between someone with vast experience and someone who wants to learn.

We also see it as a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psycho social support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, or professional development. It entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a people who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less (the protégé)”.

As an organization concerned with the social, moral, physical and professional development of children and young adults, and taking into consideration the useful of mentoring which share true identity with our core areas of services, we have added mentoring to be part of our existing services.

Our Guiding Principles

We are desirous of effectively implementing the mentorship program under the following principles:

  • To build communities of men who shall be modeled into a responsible statesman.
  • To show the young adults by way practice and not by word of mouth only.
  • To not only advice or lectures but simply share practical experience with them in a bid to let them understand the price we paid for our decision as a way of nurturing their minds towards productive thinking.
  • To make the beneficiaries our friends to create a friendly atmosphere as a way of encouraging them to express their feelings in the right, for right purpose and at the right time.
  • To reward those with successes so as to encourage others to be inspired for positive action.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

1 Training young graduates into mentorship.

Our in-depth analysis indicate that there are young graduate with creative ideas for solving social problems with high passion, but they often lack the advisory resources and real world know-how to turn their ideas into action. We therefore require the service of an experienced mentors provide in-depth and professional quality mentorship to help these inspiring individuals implement their social ventures and develop into a socially responsible adulthood.

The Guide role is crucial to Resolution’s success and we take great pride in the dedication, quality, and passion of our mentors who support tomorrow’s leaders in taking action today.

2) Guide mentoring

This is where young adults are empowered to become true entrepreneurs by advising them at every step along the way on a chosen project.

We directly connect the mentor to one or more young adults who have undertaking an initiative but need direction and courage to continue.

The mentor will keep into constant communication to know the progress of the mentee. We do so believing that, it will dis-confirm negative perception of their peers that have the potential to mislead and discourage them. Successful achievement shall encourage others into other variety of activities and these shall collectively lead to building societies where young men shall see themselves responsible for the development of their community.

3) Group mentoring

We organize school children and young adults in a group forum where they are set apart to discuss their common problems and challenges.  They are then assembled together and the leader of each of the group summarizes the challenges.  The mentor listen carefully and then contribute by identifying their mistakes and poor choices they made as teenagers, and use his / her experience to help the participant make informed choices.
